MARK ANDRE (*1964) Was born in Paris in 1964 and studied in Paris, completing his examinations with distinction. In 1993 he received a grant to continue his education with Helmut Lachenmann at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart. In 1994 he completed his studies in musicology at the École Normale Supérieure (rue d’Ulm) in Paris and at the Centre d’Études Supérieures de la Renaissance in Tours. In Stuttgart he also received a grant in 1996 from the Akademie Schloss Solitude and was awarded the Kranichsteiner Musikpreis of the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt. From 1997 to 1998 he was a scholar of the SWR and the City of Baden-Baden, from 1998 to 2000 of the Villa Medici in Rome and in 2001 of the Frankfurt Opera, winning that institution’s composition prize for ...das O... (the first part of ...22,13...). In 2002 he received the Composition Prize of the Ernst von Siemens Foundation and created his musical-theatre Passion in three parts ...22, 13... for the Music Biennale in Munich and the Staatstheater Mainz. It premièred in May 2004 in Munich in a performance directed by Georges Delnon, with additional performances in Munich, Mainz and at the Festival d’Automne in Paris. In 2005 he received a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Berlin and in 2006 the Composition Prize of the Christoph and Stefan Kaske Foundation. Mark Andre is currently working on commissions for the Donaueschingen Festival, the International Summer Courses, the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik and for various radio stations. In addition, he has received commissions from Ensemble Modern, ensemble recherche, Trio Accanto, Klangforum Wien, KNM Berlin, Les Percussions de Strasbourg and Ensemble Alternance. The composer lives in Berlin and teaches at the Conservatoire National in Strasbourg as well as the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt. Wurde 1964 in Paris geboren. Er studierte bei Gérard Grisey und Claude Ballif in Paris und schloss seine Prüfungen mit Auszeichnung ab. 1993 erhielt er ein Stipendium für ein weiterführendes Studium bei Helmut Lachenmann an der Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart. 1994 schloss er seine Studien an der École Normale Supérieure (Ulm) zu Paris und am Centre d‘Études Supérieures de la Renaissance in Tours im Fach Musikwissenschaft ab. In Stuttgart war er 1996 auch Stipendiat der Akademie Schloss Solitude und erhielt den Kranichsteiner Musikpreis der Internationalen Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, Darmstadt. Von 1997 bis 1998 war er Stipendiat des SWR und der Stadt Baden-Baden, von 1998 bis 2000 der Villa Médici in Rom und 2001 der Oper Frankfurt, deren Kompositionspreis er für ....das O... (erster Teil von ...22,13...) erhielt. 2002 erhielt er den Kompositionsförderpreis der Ernst-von-Siemens-Stiftung und schuf für die Musikbiennale München und das Staatstheater Mainz die Musiktheater-Passion in drei Teilen ...22,13..., uraufgeführt im Mai 2004 in München in der Regie von Georges Delnon und weiteren Aufführungen in München, Mainz und beim Festival d‘Automne. 2005 war er Stipendiat des DAAD Künstler-Programmes in Berlin und erhielt 2006 den „Christoph und Stefan Kaske Kompositionspreis“. Mark Andre schreibt derzeit Auftragswerke für die Donaueschinger Musiktage, die Internationalen Ferienkurse, die Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik und für verschiedene Rundfunkanstalten. Zu den Auftraggebern zählen Ensemble Modern, ensemble recherche, Trio Accanto, Klangforum Wien, KNM Berlin, les Percussions de Strasbourg und Ensemble Alternance. Der in Berlin lebende Komponist hat Lehraufträge für das Conservatoire National, Strasbourg und die Musikhochschule in Frankfurt. |
