ENNO POPPE (*1969)

Was born in Hemer, Sauerland, Germany. He studied conducting and composition at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin, with Friedrich Goldmann and Gösta Neuwirth, among others. Further studies of sound synthesis and algorithmic composition.
Since 1998 he has been musical director of ensemble mosaik; that same year he won the Boris-Blacher-Preis for his Gelöschte Lieder. In 1999 he was invited to the Boswil composers seminar; in 2001 he received a stipend from the Wilfried-Steinbrenner-Stiftung. In 2001 he was awarded the composition prize of the City of Stuttgart for Knochen, in 2001 he received the Förderpreis of the Ernst-von-Siemens-Musikstiftung, together with the ensemble mosaik, and in 2002 the Busoni-Preis of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin.
In 2002–3 he received a stipend from the Akademie Schloss Solitude. In 2004 he received the Förderpreis of the Ernst-von-Siemens-Musikstiftung, in 2005 the Schneider-Schott-Musikpreis, and in 2006 the Förderpreis Musik of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. In 2002–2004 he was lecturer in composition at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin.

Wurde in Hemer im Sauerland geboren. Er studierte Dirigieren und Komposition an der Hochschule der Künste Berlin, u.a. bei Friedrich Goldmann und Gösta Neuwirth. Weiterführende Studien im Bereich Klangsynthese und algorithmische Komposition.
Seit 1998 ist er musikalischer Leiter des ensemble mosaik; im selben Jahr erhielt er den Boris-Blacher-Preis für Gelöschte Lieder. 2001 erhielt er den Kompositionspreis der Stadt Stuttgart für Knochen, 2001 den Förderpreis der Ernst-von-Siemens-Musikstiftung gemeinsam mit dem ensemble mosaik, 2002 den Busoni-Preis der Berliner Akademie der Künste.
2002/03 war er Stipendiat der Akademie Schloss Solitude. 2004 folgte der Förderpreis der Ernst-von-Siemens-Musikstiftung, 2005 der Schneider-Schott-Musikpreis, 2006 der Förderpreis Musik der Akademie der Künste Berlin. 2002-2004 war er Lehrbeauftragter für Komposition an der Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin.
