Was born in 1957 in Linz, Austria. After finishing highschool and piano studies at the Bruckner Konservatorium he moved to Graz to study Jazz piano, Arranging and classical Piano. He studied philosophy, German philology. Between 1977 and 1981 he worked with various Jazzbands, the most important one was the „Erich Zann Septett.“ He studied composition with Polish composer Andrej Dobrowolsky as well as with H. M. Pressl.
Since 1988 he has been working at the University of Music and dramatic Arts in Graz, since 2003 as professor for composition. Gösta Neuwirth taught him for many years in a free way outside the Institutions and became one of his main influences. His pieces were performed at the Steirische Herbst Festival, at the Moscow Alternativa Festival and Moscow Modern Festival, Biennale Hannover, Tage Absoluter Musik Allentsteig I and II, Klangarten I and IV, Resistance Fluctuation Los Angeles, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Salzburger Festspiele, Wien Modern, Donaueschingen, Witten and manyothers. In 2006 he is featured artist with Vienna Modern Festival. At the IEM Graz he developed the Loop-Generator and the Visual Loop Generator together with Winfried Ritsch and Thomas Musil. He lives presently in Vienna.
